Thankful Thursday & Running Favorites

I was tagged by JenChoosesJoy to name some of my running favorites!

Feel free to play along, I’d love to see what everyone’s favorites are 🙂

1. Favorite Running Location

Where I live, we have an amazing greenway system. One part of the greenway down & back is about 7.5 miles and if you run the connector, the other down & back is about 8 miles!

I love the challenges of running on the beach. It’s an unfamiliar surface and, the view is breathtaking.

2. Time of Day

I’m a morning runner. I find peace in running with the sunrise. Here lately though, I fit my run in whenever I can (morning, lunch break, night).

3. Ideal Weather

Sunshine, upper 40’s, and a cool breeze! Basically Spring!

4. Fuel

Pre-run  (breakfast #1)

During

Post-run (breakfast #2)

     5. Accessories

I used to run with a hydration belt, not anymore! Handhelds are more convenient AND you don’t have the added weight around your waist.

I log my miles, my Garmin is a must!

    6. My reward

My reward is doing nothing! I let my body rest.

I eat more carbs on Thursdays and Fridays (yummy, carbs) to get ready for long run Saturday. After the run, I focus on giving my body the right nutrients to recover properly.

7. Thankful Thursday

It’s so hard to not compare your journey to someone else’s. I have to take a step back and remind myself that I need to work hard just like they did, nothing happens over night!

Here are some motivational quotes to remind you that you should own your journey! 🙂

Marathon Training: Last Day of February

20.22 miles with my Fleet Feet training group to end the month of February!!

I packed Gu for the run and prepped a bottle of Grape Nuun for post run.

I made breakfast for the both of us this morning. I couldn’t resist stopping at Donut Country last night for some fresh delicious donuts!

I got the bigger donut because I was running 20 miles 🙂

Yeah, I didn’t look this happy at mile 16. I wanted to walk, BAD! During my first marathon training, I did walk. I would always feel mentally defeated because I knew I had it in me physically.

Today was tough. I’m grateful for our fearless pace leader, Jen! I ran the whole 20.22 miles AND finished with a PR for time.

I had texts waiting on me when I got back to my car. I told Austin I needed food, stretching, and a nap! I was so tired I wanted to laugh and cry all at the same time. He responds with the plane smels like doodoo. I literally laughed out loud when I read that.

Well on that note, I doubled my miles ran in February! I’m starting to feel stronger and my shin splints are pretty much gone now.

I wish you all an awesome month of March!! Spring is only 3 weeks away!!
